In a nutshell, news feeds bring news on the Web to you. Web surfers coming to an organization's site can click on a feed icon  and sign up to receive news, using either software or an online service known as an aggregator. The aggregator polls the feeds on a regular basis and alerts the user of any updates. Users can then simply select from a menu of news and point their aggregators to items of interest.
